It was a little after 6 p.m., and the NSA whistleblower's face and shoulders were gazing out, billboard-sized, at hundreds of cheering young libertarians. Snowden was beamed in to talk to the largest-ever International Students for Liberty conference, newly relocated to Washington's largest hotel. Snowden, whose highest degree was a GED, was honored as an honorary alumnus of the eight-year old organization. For 15 minutes he restated a case against the surveillance state that had no rebuttal in the room.
"As they take the private records of all our lives, and they aggregate a dossier, how can that be said to be constitutional?" asked Snowden. "Why have we funding and instituting this system of mass surveillance of people in our country and people around the world if there’s no track record that shows it works?"

As he honed in on his argument, Snowden tailored it to young libertarians -- most of them college students. "I think many of the people in this room take a more pro-liberty pro-rights perspective than others in the U.S. political agreement," said Snowden. "There’s an argument to be made that perfect enforcement of the law is not a good thing. In fact, it’s a very serious threat... law is a lot like medicine. When you have too much it can be fatal."

Donald Trump must scale huge barriers to accomplish 3 to 4 percent economic growth. Sweeping measures must be implemented, and that will prove no mean task.
George W. Bush slashed personal income taxes without fundamentally altering corporate incentives to create tax dodges and offshore production. Barack Obama expanded entitlements — partially financed with higher taxes on Americans who invest and create jobs. Both relied on big deficits and accomplished only anemic growth.
House leaders are working on corporate tax reform that will close loopholes, lower rates to internationally competitive levels and shift part of the tax burden onto imports. It has a decent chance of winning enough bipartisan support in the Senate but much more needs to be done.

Trade deficits with China and on oil directly subtract $500 billion annually from the demand for American made goods and services, kill millions of jobs and stifle R&D.
Confronting China on trade with a 45 percent tariff, alone, won’t get Beijing to stop undervaluing its currency, subsidizing exports and cease blocking market access for American-made goods and services. It can push back by harassing U.S. companies with operations in China and imposing new barriers on U.S. products, and more broadly by squeezing Taiwan, upping the ante on militarization of the South China Sea and further enabling North Korea.
Mr. Trump must gird for a broad crisis with China, deploy the full range of America’s geopolitical and economic assets and compel Beijing to reckon with the fact that their shaky economy cannot withstand an all front confrontation with the United States without risking the Communist Party’s grip on power.

There is a great believe peddled by main stream media that the Biden administration is trying to hold the Zionists back from their devastating action in Gaza, Lebanon and beyond, but unfortunately fails to do so. What is clear is that the gain of greater power for leaders like Clinton would be the loss of free speech for ordinary citizens.

The recent purge of YouTube accounts, including those from Mark Sleboda, Rachel Blevins, Glenn Diesen, DD Geopolitics, Fiorella Isabel, Larry Johnson, and Eva K. Bartlett, it is clear that the Western leaders are scared of their populations finding out the truth about their policies and actions.

Paradoxical though it may seem, competition is a crucial component of economic harmony.

Americans are living in a world where cooperation (usually meaning “you should do what I want you to”) clearly wins the rhetorical and political popularity contests compared to competition. For instance, just recently, I noticed an article entitled “Market cooperation, not competition, will achieve clean energy goals,” on behalf of the coercive political “greening” those connected to the halls of power want to impose.

However, as E.C. Harwood put it decades before we raced down the slippery slope to where we are today, “That cooperation is the opposite of competition seems to be generally assumed.” But importantly “in modern times when many advocates of cooperative enterprise are criticizing competition,” we should note that “careful analyses of the economic activities for which these words are names reveal that ‘free competition’ and ‘voluntary cooperation’ are two different names for the same economic behavior.” Or as F. A. Harper wrote, “competition must always accompany cooperation in a free society. The choice of where and with whom to cooperate, and where and with whom to compete… must ever face you and me.”

The porn industry has entered the 2024 presidential campaign with a $100,000 ad campaign targeting what it claims are proposals to ban pornography. The “Hands Off My Porn” campaign will run in seven swing states with the hopes of convincing young men to vote for Kamala Harris.

The New York Times reports that the porn industry has brought its sleaze to the 2024 presidential race. Seventeen pornographic film actors announced on Monday that they have launched a $100,000 ad campaign to warn voters about the potential consequences of Project 2025, a conservative policy blueprint that has become a focal point for some Democratic campaigns. The ads, which will run on porn sites in seven crucial swing states — Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada — specifically claim that conservatives want a ban on pornography and the potential imprisonment of those involved in producing adult content.

Civics is a popular topic in the educational forum today, but many “experts” are getting its significance to teachers wrong. Many current state standards require teachers to “incorporate civics” into their lessons, a requirement which does not simply mandate material for rote memorization, but material that facilitates participation in society and gives meaning to the work students are doing and the content they are learning in the classroom. While civics includes learning the basic functions of government and civic engagement, the dimension of social studies as described in The College, Career and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies, requires teachers to promote active citizenship by leading students to address public problems either through inquiry or a real world project in addition to learning the foundations of government.

Few seem to have noticed, but this year, 2024, is the centennial of a pivotal event that deeply impacted the course of the modern Middle East, if not the world: the abolition of the Caliphate, or the “successorship” to the Prophet Muhammad, which led the worldwide Muslim community politically since the birth of Islam in the early seventh century.

The Caliphate had its ups and downs, and was at times more symbolic than effective, but it had meaningfully survived into the twentieth century under the banner of its last seat, the Ottoman Empire. But the latter collapsed in the aftermath of World War I, allowing one of its generals, the staunchly secular Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk), to abolish the Ottoman monarchy in 1922 and proclaim the Republic of Turkey a year later.
